What we made for the Doing Time cabaret show:

Karen from Finance wanted an eye-catching stage backdrop that would be lightweight, easy to transport, and sturdy enough for touring.

Our LED neon designer, Ashley worked with Karen’s team to design a custom acrylic backboard UV printed in the show's colors. Framed in LED neon with RGB color-changing technology and flanked by color-changing LED neon "jail bars" nearly 6ft tall, the result is a stage sign almost as stunning as Karen's outfits!

Doing Time was booked at every major stop on the 2023 Australian comedy circuit, with international tours to follow. To make the sign as easy as possible to set up, dismantle, and transport, we made it on 4 different backboards that were easy to stack and pack away. Pre-drilled holes for cable ties or screws ensured quick assembly and the ability to hang or mount the sign on various stage setups.

With the video and photography of gigs being such an important part of a performer's marketing, we opted for a matt acrylic backboard in order to reduce glare as much as possible. Over this, we UV printed the show name DOING TIME in its branded color scheme to match the show's posters and other marketing material.

Finally, we edged each letter with RGB color changing LED neon and provided a DMX controller to give Karen's tech team professional control over the brightness, flashing, auto and static color options, and other features that come with our RGB neon signs. The DMX capabilities also allowed Karen's team to synchronize the stage lighting with the RGB color of the sign and poles, creating an immersive audio-visual experience.
