NIGHTLIFE REGENERATION
We worked with a tactical urban regeneration team to create outdoor LED neon signs and art installations that would encourage visitors to the area and rejuvenate its nightlife.
Using our state-of-the-art IP67 waterproof-rated product, we created a range of LED neon signs and artworks to light up the downtown entertainment district. The outdoor signage included innovative streetscape lighting in the form of customized tagline signs and hearts featuring a combination of LED neon flex and UV print.
This project also incorporated the multi-location White Night Festival, where we lit up public spaces with fluorescent artwork.

We recently collaborated with Custom Neon to create a series of neon installations in Central Geelong. This was a complex project that involved transforming artist produced designs into large scale neon installations. The results are absolutely superb! The neon’s have added colour and vibrancy to our streets and have provided engaging street lighting installations for the community to enjoy.

What we made:
One large animated artwork comprised of 8 designs in 9 separate pieces, which together formed the illuminated "Clare Street, 5pm" installation by artist Glen Smith. We also lit up the gorgeous "Bright Blooms" art installation featuring local indigenous flora. Created by artist George Rose, this bright orange artwork was placed on the corner of a popular undercover parking garage, beautifying the building and illuminating the area.
Our local tradespeople normally install neon signs for businesses, so it’s exciting to see their lighting skills used in collaboration with a local artist. It’s a really striking artwork and a fantastic celebration of the people of Geelong.
With a very modern take on the traditional streetlamp, we made customized tagline signs that were installed on poles throughout a popular dining and entertainment area. Each pole was topped with a multi-faceted pink LED neon heart featuring a UV print backboard for added depth, color, and detail.
The heart theme was taken through to the pedestrian-only areas to add a festive, gentle glow and illuminate the way for patrons heading out for dinner, drinks or a show.
Finally, we draped sidewalk trees in bright LED neon rope, adding both light and enchantment to rejuvenate the nightlife district.
James and the team at Custom Neon worked with us over several months to answer numerous questions and provide insight and knowledge into the design development phase to ensure best outcomes were achieved. Custom Neon also worked hard to develop a unique and creative installation method to meet our project objectives. Their attention to detail, professionalism and overall customer service was exceptional. It was a pleasure to work with Custom Neon and we love the results!
